Take That Music Video by Debo Ray
A Powerful Journey of Voice Emotion and Legacy!
Every so often, a music video comes along that does more than just accompany a song, it tells a story, stirs emotions, and makes you reflect on your own life. That’s exactly what Grammy-nominated artist Debo Ray delivers with her latest visual release for the soul-stirring track, “Take That.”
This video holds a special place for us at JFV Works because our very own co-founder, Jimmy C. Jules, took on a pivotal role in bringing this project to life, portraying Debo’s father in several powerful flashback scenes that reveal so much of the emotional core of the song.

Be sure to experience the full impact of the story by watching the official “Take That” Music Video by Debo Ray. The visual is just as powerful as the lyrics, and every frame is packed with purpose. Don’t forget to like, comment, share, and subscribe.
Jimmy and Debo, both raised in Haitian and Caribbean households, instantly connected through their shared cultural upbringing. As they reflected on childhood memories of growing up with strict fathers, Debo opened up about how those experiences shaped her journey.
Real Moments On and Off Screen

During filming, Debo pulled Jimmy aside and admitted the scene gave her chills. It brought her right back to those moments from her past, moments that inspired the emotion behind the song itself. Jimmy’s performance felt real, maybe a little too real for young actress Jaelyn Francis, who played the younger Debo. After witnessing how strict and intense Jimmy was during a scene, she became genuinely scared to film the next one. Jimmy quickly reassured her that it was all make believe and part of the storytelling. The team supported her, and he even adjusted his approach in the next scene to make her more comfortable.
That kind of behind-the-scenes care and collaboration is part of what made this project so special.
A Voice That Captures You
And then, there’s Debo Ray herself. A force of nature, her voice effortlessly weaves soul, power, and vulnerability into one unforgettable soundscape. “Take That” is more than just a song. It’s a declaration. It’s about finding your strength, owning your story, and standing up even when the world tries to hold you down. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful, the kind that makes you pause, reflect, and maybe even shed a tear.
From Boston Roots to Global Stages
Debo’s story is powerful. A Boston native born to Haitian immigrant parents, she found refuge in music when the world didn’t understand her. Today, she’s not only an accomplished singer and composer but a dynamic performer who’s worked alongside greats like Bobby McFerrin and Esperanza Spalding. With training from prestigious institutions and a degree from Berklee College of Music, Debo Ray fuses theory and emotion in ways that few artists can. Whether she’s performing at Carnegie Hall or crafting new studio projects, one thing’s for sure, her sound leaves a mark.
A JFV Connection That Runs Deep
The video shoot also sparked an unexpected full-circle moment. During a conversation between Jimmy and Debo, they realized that her uncle and Jimmy were actually friends in high school. It was a surprise reconnection that added even more depth to the collaboration and a shared commitment to work together again, this time under the JFV brand in future projects.
Watch. Feel. Share.
“Take That” is more than a music video. It’s an experience. From the heartfelt storytelling to Debo’s captivating voice and the emotional performances on screen, this is a piece that deserves to be seen by the masses.
